We need to slow down when we travel. The concept of slow travel, which is being talked about more and more, means more than slowness – It is a way of being in travel, a way of thinking. To be more attentive to the journey itself, to what we see, to who we meet.
Slow travel does not mean that we necessarily have to travel slowly. But it does mean not rushing, not hurrying. It also means that we do not have to see everything, but choose what we want to see, with thought. Simple, easy, unpretentious, simplicity, are the watchwords. To take other paths than the marked ones. To let yourself be surprised.
Something to consider when choosing a trip:
Rather one longer trip than many shorter trips
Direct flights are always preferable to a trip with a stopover.*
Low-budget flights with modern planes are better alternatives as they are often fully booked.*
You can offset your carbon footprint and make contributions to environmental projects/organizations.
Prefer trains and use local means of transport and/or bicycles at your destination.

Book local, preferably eco-labeled accommodation, shop locally and preferably organic products.
Plan your trip carefully and thoughtfully. As something valuable. Remember: Traveling is a privilege for those of us who have a passport and can cross national borders. But we can share our privilege.
We should not stop traveling! Traveling is something that gives us knowledge and understanding of the world and, in the best case, increased solidarity between countries.
